Sewing Table Makeover and a Poll

I inherited this sewing table from my kickass MIL.  After determining that I can do with it what I want, I posted an informal poll on the Book of Face.  I gave 4 options that I liked on paint treatments and let everyone but me decide.  I am going to face lift this item and my FB friends have rocked the vote, (much to my poor Nic-Nac's dismay, he had no opinion.  I did hijak his phone and spread some really supportive cheer.  I was soon found out.)

Anywhoo.....Here is the sewing table

Here are the options I posted on the Book of Face:

Navy, Turquoise, Mustard, or All of the colors~ Burmuda Blend!

And the WINNER is.....

Now to get busy with some sample paint boards and to continuously tell the Nic-Nac that all will  be ok- WHEN I get my she-shed, this will go inside of it.

Squareathon Part 2

Hello, Hello, Hello!
Here is my part two of the @melissadoty.art #squareathon

I can tell you these few squares are not my favorite~ I have some
I like better than others.

Ready.........Set........Show you the stuff I think resembles doggie doo.
(one thing about me- I am my own WORST critic.  Like most artists.  So I am completely unauthentic there.)
Most are watercolor and/or acrylic.  Obvs. the Castle is just ink.
Anyway, visit me on Instagram to see a lot more of my work and/or the deets behind some of these ideas.
I am @ambermalarsiemoritz

Day 12- Into the Mystic
I like her second best of the group
Day 11- Castle in the Clouds
I like this one best... fun and perspective is a damn P.I.A.

Day 10- Catching Fire
Started out as one thing, ended up as another. Like burning wood, now that I think about it.

Day 9- An Epic Adventure
Playing with pattern and color

Day 8- Flowers in Your Hair
:-/  Not my fave.

Day 7- Made of Stars
cool idea, just happened out of some watercolor blooms that came out in the black corner.

Squareathon

#squareathon

What's a squarathon?  Glad you asked.  So, I follow this artist on the gram- her name is Mel Doty.  you can follow her @melissadoty.art  She does a challenge every so often to prompt you to create.  The rules are that you keep your composition in a square and interperet her prompts however you want.  Other than that, you do what you want in whatever medium.  I joined this one since it was only 15 days and she partnered up with @experiencetruecolors to make the prompts.  Mostly I worked in Crayola marker, watercolor and ink for these 6.  Does anyone else sign up for challenges and start off strong only to peter out after day 5 or so?!?! That about sums up my diet history too :-/
The Prompts
Here are my first 6 days worth of mini square art prompts:

Prompt 1- City of Gold
Prompt 2- Mountain Melodies
Prompt 3- End of the Rainbow
Prompt 4- Secret Sunsets
Prompt 5- Strawberry Fields Forever

Prompt 6- Treasures of the Tides

Stay tuned for the 2nd part of this challenge..........

Welcome, wipe your feet.

     Welcome to Creative Mountain Life!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to see what I am up to over here. I decided to start this blog to keep me accountable for all the things I want to show up for in my life.  From every creative idea that trickles through this aging brain of mine to how my family and I experience life in the mountains of Southwest Colorado.  It seems that a blog is the best way to get my ideas out and documented.
I will be posting my creative process, provide project inspiration, mountain living narrations or maybe just some pretty eye candy.  I consider myself to be a pretty creative individual.  Couple that with living in a beautiful part of the country and I think there could be some pretty groovy content for a lifestyle blog!  It may change over time, but for now, using my creativity to simplify and customize my life seems like a groovy idea.
This year I will celebrate a milestone birthday.  I've really been contemplating hard about the fact that I get out of life just what I put in to it.  So sitting by and watching time float by like a dead leaf in the rain gutter sounds pretty counterproductive to my creativity at this stage in life.  Like my Granny Moe used to say, "You can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up faster." I suppose I would rather chance the fallout resulting from crapping in my own hand, than to waste time wishing away life.
Admittedly, the analogy is kinda gross, but there is something to be said about doing hard things.  It's messy and ugly; but once complete, it's something I can be proud of.  My experiences will show me that the journey is 90 times better than the final result.  Putting myself out here for the GIGANTIC masses to see is scary, but having that mess in my hand will remind me that life is meant to be experienced and lived, not to be wished away.  What is your favorite way to be present or to stay creative? Lay it on me.
Peace, Love and Paintbrushes~
